The season hasn’t started, but Mason Williams is looking like something special
The freshman guard was a standout in Kentucky's exhibition victory over No. 19 Texas Tech on Friday night. And he's shaping up as a key player for the Cats.
Kentucky secured the first official visit for the class of 2027 center, who has ties to the most recent addition to Mark Pope's coaching staff.
In his two-plus years as head coach, Mark Pope hasn't been shy about using Keeneland as a recruiting tool. These public appearances have confirmed the visits of several high-profile recruits, but a few weeks ago, a surprise guest stood by Pope's side.
Towered over Pope might be the better description.
Cherif Millogo, a 7-foot-5 center and four-star recruit in the 2027 class, took his first official visit to Kentucky beginning Oct. 9.
“He loved it," said Todd Wolfson, Millogo's coach at St. Francis Academy in California. "He was blown away. He was excited about it. They did a really good job, according to (Millogo). Super excited, loved the visit, loves Coach (Mark Pope). He could definitely see himself wearing a Kentucky jersey at some point.”
