Malachi Moreno’s minutes might be the biggest revelation of Kentucky’s preseason

After hitting a wall at the end of last season, UK's starting center vowed to work on his conditioning over the summer. The results could be big for the Wildcats.

A day before Kentucky’s second exhibition game of the preseason, the Wildcats were nearing the two-hour mark of their practice in Rupp Arena, meaning the session was just about over.

Every UK practice ends on a made free throw, however, so someone would have to make it.

The first Wildcat who went to the line missed. Everybody on the court knew what came next.

Kentucky’s players headed to the baseline, waited for the whistle, and took off when it blew. They ran the length of the court and back, and then they did it again. When they got back to that baseline for the final time, Malachi Moreno was the first Cat to cross it.

All 7 feet and 250 pounds of him.

And then Moreno got a ball, walked up to the line, and knocked down the free throw to end Kentucky’s two-hour practice session. His teammates clapped, huddled up and called it a day.
